Foto Friday: A Taste of Easter Island

I’ve made you wait long enough. There will be oodles of posts about Easter Island to come, but here are a few photos to whet your appetite for this incredible destination. This barely scratches the surface of what I saw. I’ve spent half a day organizing and editing photos, and had to stop when I realized that I had only reached the half-way mark of our first day on Easter Island!

Most of these images are from Ahu Tongariki, where there is the largest concentration of restored moai, and Rano Raraku which is the quarry where the moai were carved by the Rapa Nui master craftsmen.

I’ve been experimenting with the layout and would love to hear what you think. Click on any photo to enlarge and view as a slideshow.

Thanks Rob! Glad you like it. I have a bunch of ideas for an Easter Island infographic, but as usual my ideas far outpace my expertise 😉

Thanks Cassie. I consider that quite a compliment coming from someone who’s so into photography 😉 A handful of different gallery styles is one of the many goodies that come with Jetpack.

    Ahhh, the magical Easter Island!
I regret that I never spent much time at Tongariro when I was there…I think maybe it’s an excuse to return! Great photos…

Hey Red, thanks for stopping by! Easter Island is indeed amazing. I also feel like I didn’t get enough time on the island as a whole. Would have loved to hunker down at a few places and observe the sunrise/sunset and/or shoot some videos, but I just wasn’t there long enough and didn’t have control over my itinerary.

Those are some wonderful pictures! We have always wanted to go there, but haven’t had the opportunity yet. I bet you had a great time.

I like the layout of the pictures on this theme
